Reflections by Paul Finkel

Travel is a very personal, and for many people, a life changing thing. And when many of our clients are like family we feel especially proud when they do great things.

Finkel headshotIn the case of long-time Town & Country client and Thousand Oaks resident, Dr. Paul Finkel, a revelation happened on a day of exploration in Iceland with a Town & Country group. In a moment of spontaneity he captured an image that was based entirely on a reflection. From there his technique evolved to a combination of photography and digital painting whose subjects are subtle and often generally ignored in the fleeting moments of a day. The vibrant color treatment strips the obvious features but a leaves a piece that is worthy of pondering.  The mundane is transformed into the extraordinary whether from the surfaces of buildings, storefronts and display windows, or even a lowly puddle.  You won’t have a clue what you’re looking at, but then suddenly: it’s unmistakable and magnificent.

Finkel’s prowess has earned him an exhibition of his digital work at the William Roland Gallery of Fine Art at California Lutheran University.  Reflections will be on display until February 20th.

A special with Walk-Through-With the Artist event will be held on Saturday, February 13 from 2-3 p.m.

Congratulations Dr. Finkel! Thank you for being such a glowing example of constant curiosity. Your work is a true reflection of your gift (not too punny we hope?!)!
